WOMAN'S HOUR/RADIO 4
Secrets Exposed
My first report for Radio 4's flagship show Woman's Hour was about children who sexually offend. I interviewed a young boy who assaulted a young girl when he was only 14.One of the hardest interviews I have ever done. Research studies indicate that young people account for 30% of all sexual offences and up to 50% of sexual abuse perpetrated against children. Statistics that are hard to ignore. There are preventative services around the UK (NOTA, ACT, G-MAP, AIM) that aim to discourage these children from offending into adulthood, working with not only the young people themselves, but their surrounding local network of families, carers, and professionals. This is an area that needs much support and understanding. Please click on the below to listen again. I am currently working on new ideas, so watch this space.
